RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Malte Stromwall on a one-year, two-way contract. The deal will pay Stromwall 750,000attheNHLleveland750,000 at the NHL level and 750,000attheNHLleveland150,000 at the American Hockey League (AHL) level with a $175,000 guarantee.

"This is a player we've been tracking for a while," said Waddell. "Malte is a tremendous skater with high-end skill coming off a very productive season in the KHL."
Stromwall, 27, recorded 32 points (19g, 13a) in 38 regular-season games with Dinamo Minsk of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) in 2021-22 and added four points (3g, 1a) in four playoff games. The 6'0", 190-pound forward has played 137 career KHL games with HK Sochi, SKA St. Petersburg and Dinamo Minsk over the past three seasons, earning 96 points (56g, 40a). Stromwall played 89 games in Liiga, Finland's top professional league, posting 77 points (44g, 33a) with KooKoo from 2017-19. He led the league in goals and points and was named to the Liiga All-Star Team in 2018-19. Stromwall also spent parts of two seasons in North America from 2016-17, registering six points (2g, 4a) in 44 AHL games with Hartford and two points (1g, 1a) in two ECHL games with Greenville. The Lulea, Sweden, native began his professional career in his home country, recording 14 points (9g, 5a) in 87 Swedish Hockey League games with Vaxjo, Lulea and HV71 from 2013-15.
