I’m from Northern Virginia, so I’m quite familiar with the D.C. area. I really enjoy the comfortable feel of the Mount Vernon campus, where I currently live, and appreciate the city vibe of Foggy Bottom. I experience the best of both worlds here. I’ve met amazing people both in my classes and around campus. It’s a very open environment, and the students are welcoming.
If there’s one thing I’d improve, it’s the dining hall food. The food options, especially at Pelham, are limited, particularly for vegans. However, we do have alternatives outside the dining hall that accept dining dollars, which is a great alternative for anyone seeking food outside the dining halls.
The location provides amazing opportunities for all majors and interests; being in the nation's capital is one of the aspects that excites me about going to school here. I am already on the hunt for internships and jobs on and off campus. Overall, I’ve been enjoying my time here and am excited for what’s to come.
Review George Washington University
George Washington University strives to have the best professors in the area, making sure each professor has the necessary background to teach. The professors care a lot about their students, advocating for change and listening to student's concerns. While it does all of this, there are not many opportunities for scholarships or loan assistance. While there are many organizations to join, some are specific and shelter a small majority of students.
My experience at GWU thus far has allowed me to not only relish in the diversity of DC but also learn the intricacies of making an impact in the world. If you are an International Studies major, GWU offers great connections as many of the faculty have diverse experiences with the political spectrum. Additionally, the campus retains a lively atmosphere and bustling as it resides near the downtown area. At first, it may be overwhelming, but soon enough you'll find yourself reminiscing in the bustle of both the city and campus. Building a community is also easy as there are many events meant to encourage interactions between students. If you have any issues, the Student Center is always there to assist you. Overall, GWU has offered me a myriad of great opportunities especially for those seeking to do international relations.
