Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Reviews

Rating 4 out of 5 428 reviews

Choosing Rose-Hulman as my college has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. Rose offers unique, one-of-a-kind majors, a supportive student affairs team, and a dedicated alumni network that enriches both your time on campus and your opportunities after graduation.

I’ve been fortunate to build strong connections with professors, administrative staff, alumni, and other professionals, all made possible by the close-knit community and small class sizes. While the academic workload can be intense—that’s engineering!—the experience has been incredibly rewarding. Beyond academics, Rose-Hulman provides countless opportunities to grow, with a welcoming student body and a vibrant residence life. Freshman year, in particular, is a highlight, with supportive upperclassmen helping you feel right at home.

Choosing Rose-Hulman was easy, and I haven’t regretted it for a moment!

Review Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology

Rose-Hulman is a challenging STEM school focused on Engineering. It's location in Terre Haute, IN results in some limitations of off-campus activities. The class work is based around a quarter system, so the classes are only 10 weeks long. This makes it vital for you to keep up and ask for help. There is a great deal of help available, and all the professors are focused on their students. Additional dining options on campus would be great, and having a car or knowing someone with a car is important. I enjoy having classes last 10 weeks as it prevents the subject from getting stale and I have more frequent, although shorter, breaks throughout the year.

When I attended a summer program as a prospective student, they "punished" any "violations of rules" through either public humiliation or by having the student clean their vans. For context, I have back problems, anxiety, and bad sensory issues, which made wearing the lanyards incredibly distressing. This was not adequately handled, especially as no accommodations were made when they were reminded that I physically cannot clean the vans. Terrible experience.
