We kick off today's All Songs Considered with a song inspired by a break up that morphed into a quarantine anthem by the artist, Shamir.

NPR Music's Cyrena Touros then joins us with a new song by the Grammy Award-winning singer H.E.R. The song, inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement — and in particular, the police killing of George Floyd — is called "I Can't Breathe." Cyrena also introduces us to the Los Angeles singer A.O. Gerber who has a debut album recorded in bedrooms, hallways and studios across four states. We hear "Old Blue" from that record, Another Place to Need.

The classical trained, pop-leaning duo Gracie and Rachel have a reaffirming tune called "Ideas," while the Polish pianist and composer, Hania Rani has a gorgeous piano tune drawing influence from the likes of Nils Frahm. And we go out on a tune that takes inspiration from ultrasonic field recordings of bats. It's a double album of various artists called Ultrasonic. The performance we play is by Eluvium.
