You can learn to create the latest hair designs! Northwest College School of Beauty offers a hair design program so you can learn how to use the right tools and modern methods to create trending styles in men’s and women’s hair.

Our courses keep student groups small, giving you plenty of feedback and one-on-one instruction on your techniques. You can also benefit from group teaching, discussions, and peer support as you learn the art of hair design and develop your creative skills. Our performance-oriented courses give you over 1,000 hours of instruction, and you can expect to participate in academic classes and laboratory projects while working with real clients in a simulated salon environment.

Our program is designed to make you a confident hair designer prepared to sit for the state exam and meet the needs of a diverse client base. Each learning module of the Hair Design program covers a single subject, giving you time to dive deep into each topic and refine your skills and knowledge. Our instructors use textbooks, presentations, and hands-on training to create a program filled with learning achievements.

Students can expect to work with real clients under the supervision of a licensed, experienced instructor. This simulated salon time is a great way to build confidence in your customer service skills and refine your techniques as a hair designer.

Hair Design School FAQs

How long does completing the hair design course take?

This course is shorter than a traditional cosmetology program, as the course’s primary focus is hair and not skin and nails. Because of this, students can complete the course in as little as ten months. We offer both day and night courses, and your completion date will depend on your chosen schedule. You can speak to an admissions representative to learn more about your scheduling options and potential start date.

Is Northwest College School of Beauty accredited?

Yes! We’re accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences (NACCAS). This means our courses are held to rigorous standards, so you can be confident in the education and training you receive. It also means our courses are eligible for federal financial aid, giving you more options for paying for your beauty education.

Is financial aid available?

Yes, financial aid is available for those who qualify. We encourage all prospective students to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) to learn more about their federal financial aid options. You may also be eligible for private scholarships, grants, and low-interest loans. Speak to a member of our financial aid team to learn more.

Is this the same as a cosmetology course?

No. The hair design course exclusively covers men’s and women’s hair styling. Our cosmetology course expands on this by offering skincare and nail technology training. We recommend taking the full cosmetology course for the most flexible career training.

Be at least 18 years of age
Have a high school diploma, or its equivalent (GED), or a transcript showing high school completion
