Gustavo Dudamel is driven by the belief that music has the power to transform lives, to inspire, and to change the world. Through his dynamic presence on the podium and his tireless advocacy for arts education, he has introduced classical music to new audiences around the globe and has helped provide access to the arts for countless people in underserved communities. Dudamel currently serves as Music and Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Music Director of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra. In 2026 he becomes the Oscar L. Tang and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Music and Artistic Director of the New York Philharmonic, after serving as Music Director Designate in the 2025–26 season, continuing a legacy that includes Gustav Mahler, Arturo Toscanini, and Leonard Bernstein.

Kate Soper Soprano

Composer, performer, and writer Kate Soper has been creating unique and uncategorizable musico-theatrical spectacles for more than a decade. Her large-scale works include the monodramas Voices from the Killing Jar (2012) and IPSA DIXIT (2017) and the operas and librettos for Here Be Sirens (2014), The Romance of the Rose (2021), and The Hunt (2023). A finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Music, Soper has received awards and fellowships from the Guggenheim and Koussevitzky Foundations, American Academy of Arts and Letters, and American Academy in Rome. As a vocalist, Soper performs frequently in her own works and has also given US and world premieres of works by Rick Burkhardt, Beat Furrer, George Lewis, Darius Jones, Sky MacClay, Alex Mincek, Katharina Rosenberger, and Eric Wubbels, among others. As a nonfiction and creative writer she has been published by McSweeney's Quarterly, Theory and Practice, and The Massachusetts Review. Soper is a co-director of and performer with Wet Ink, a new-music ensemble dedicated to adventurous music-making across aesthetic boundaries.
