Apple Bank for Savings said yesterday that William J. Laraia had resigned as its chairman and chief executive. Mr. Laraia, 58, was hired in February 1991 to form a management team after the New York City bank was purchased by Stanley Stahl. Alan Shamoon, president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer, will assume Mr. Laraia's duties, the bank said.
