Compagnie de Saint-Gobain of France is buying the Ball Corporation's 42 percent stake in the Ball-Foster Glass Container Company for about 190milliontotakecontroloftheventure,thecompaniessaidMonday.ThedealcomesafterBall−FostersaidFridaythatitwouldacquiretheAnchorGlassCorporationfor190 million to take control of the venture, the companies said Monday. The deal comes after Ball-Foster said Friday that it would acquire the Anchor Glass Corporation for 190milliontotakecontroloftheventure,thecompaniessaidMonday.ThedealcomesafterBallFostersaidFridaythatitwouldacquiretheAnchorGlassCorporationfor365 million to become the biggest maker of glass bottles in the United States. Anchor's parent, Vitro S.A. of Mexico, filed for bankruptcy-court protection for the unit to insure its continued operation while Saint-Gobain completed the takeover.
