Mary Ellen Glynn and Dwight Carter Holton were married on Friday in La Jolla, Calif. The Rev. Robert L. Kealy, a cousin of the bride, performed the ceremony at the Roman Catholic Church of Mary, Star of the Sea, with the Rev. Samuel Kirk, a Methodist minister, taking part.

Ms. Glynn, who is 34 and will keep her name, is the spokeswoman for Ambassador Richard C. Holbrooke, the permanent representative of the United States at the United Nations, and for the United States' Mission to the United Nations. She graduated from Northwestern and received a master's degree in international relations and communications from Boston University.

She is a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Kevin P. Glynn of La Jolla. Her father, a pulmonary specialist, is the chief of staff at Scripps-Mercy Hospital in San Diego. Her mother, Patricia H. Glynn, is a sales associate and instructor at the Needle Nook, a needlepoint shop in La Jolla.

Mr. Holton, 34, is an assistant United States attorney in Brooklyn, working in the violent criminal enterprises section. He graduated from Brown University and received his law degree from the University of Virginia.

He is a son of Gov. and Mrs. A. Linwood Holton Jr. of Weems, Va. His father, who was governor of Virgina, from 1970 to 1974, has a private law practice in Richmond. The bridegroom's mother, Virginia Rogers Holton, is a member of the board of the Virginia Action Alliance for Children and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.
