The Swedish police today released new pictures of a man who matches descriptions by witnesses of the assailant who stabbed to death Foreign Minister Anna Lindh in a department store.
The photos, from surveillance cameras, were released as the police questioned and then freed several people in the killing of Ms. Lindh, 46. They show a man in a blue baseball cap and a gray sweatshirt with a Nike logo. The cap hides part of the face.
''We want the public's help to identify the man,'' said a police spokesman, Mats Nylen.
The man in the photos matches descriptions of a man with acne and shoulder-length hair who appeared to be Swedish and about 30, investigators said.
