Cassette In their new venture, Henry Rich and the chef Joe Pasqualetto move from the rustic Italian they feature at Rucola in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn, to southwestern French, with some Catalonian flavors. Vegetables dominate in dishes like roasted peppers with white anchovies, potatoes with salsa verde, roasted acorn squash with red rice, and pasta with tomatoes, toasted garlic and salt cod. Desserts include crème Catalan, the Spanish take on crème brûlée. The wines of the region are well represented and well priced, with about a dozen under $50. Perry Chen, a founder of Kickstarter, which happens to be just around the corner, is also a partner. Unlike the cozy, cluttered Rucola, this restaurant is airy and spacious, with big windows: 113 Franklin Street (Kent Street), Greenpoint, Brooklyn, 347-682-4111, cassettebk.com.

Opening

Dominique Bistro The chef Dominick Pepe brings French country cooking to the West Village, serving steak tartare, seared scallops, duck confit, fillet of beef and crème brûlée. (Wednesday): 14 Christopher Street (Gay Street), 646-756-4145, dominiquebistro.nyc.

Moku Moku Smoky izakaya grilled meats and a stew called chankonabe, which is popular among sumo wrestlers, all employ a whole animal/whole bird approach. These are stick-to-your-ribs specialties from the owners of Momo Sushi Shack next door: 43 Bogart Street (Moore Street), Bushwick, Brooklyn, 718-418-6666, mokumokubk.com.

Once Upon a Tart When Alicia Walter, who was a chef in the culinary school at Eataly, and her architect husband, Michael Stern, took over this SoHo bakery about a year ago, their plan was to eventually turn it into a full restaurant, not just a bakery and a spot for breakfast and lunch. They have accomplished this gradually, and now, with a beer and wine license, they are serving dinners. The menu includes salads, roasted vegetables, baked pasta, chicken potpie and seared local fish: 135 Sullivan Street (Prince Street), 212-387-8869, onceuponatart.com.

Rosa Mexicano The latest extension of the 31-year-old Mexican brand is in TriBeCa. On the ground floor is a fairly intimate dining room done in the restaurant’s signature pink. Downstairs is a cantina glinting with handblown glass; called Masa y Agave, it features tacos and street foods like empanadas and tamales made of freshly ground masa, with hundreds of agave spirits, including the lesser-known sotols and raicillas. (Wednesday): 41 Murray Street (Church Street), 212-849-2885, rosamexicano.com.

Sant Ambroeus Coffee Bar at Sotheby’s An abbreviated branch of the Upper East Side Italian restaurant has been installed on the 10th floor of the auction house and is open to the public. Sandwiches, pastries, coffee and tea are served indoors and on a spacious terrace: Sotheby’s, 1334 York Avenue (72nd Street), 212-606-7070, santambroeus.com.
