Preview
Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey is widely expected to defeat Democrat Barbara Buono and win a second term, but political observers will be watching the margins with an eye toward 2016. A popular Republican in a Democratic state, Mr. Christie's bipartisan appeal would be a major asset if he chooses to mount a presidential bid as many believe he will.
Pre-election Polls
For months, Mr. Christie has led by 20 points or more.
Recent Statewide Elections
In elections for either governor, president or United States senator, New Jersey has elected only one Republican since 1997 — Mr. Christie.
