Youth summit planned at Mel Blount Youth Ranch (original) (raw)

The Mel Blount Youth Leadership Initiative, in partnership with the Southwest Corner Workforce Development Board, will host the 2026 Youth Summit: Career Exploration & Pathways from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at the Mel Blount Youth Ranch, 6 Mel Blount Drive, Claysville.

The event is free for youth in the region.

The hands-on event is designed to introduce middle and high school students to a wide range of career paths through interactive demonstrations, real-world experiences, and career coaching. Youth will engage with professionals in healthcare, trades, public service, STEM, and more.

Featured career exploration activities include:

– Drone technology and careers;

– Skilled trades and apprenticeships;

– Health and emergency careers;

– Cyber technology;

– Education enrichment for the entire community around STEM

– Career coaching and interactive tools

– Equine and outdoor leadership activities, led by the Mel Blount Youth Leadership Initiative and Spurred to Victory.

– FBI Crime Scene Van.
