First Mickey Mouse ride heading to Disneyland’s Toontown in 2022 (original) (raw)

The first theme park attraction ever dedicated to Mickey Mouse will take riders on a chaotic journey aboard a runaway train that encounters hurricanes, waterfalls and stampeding bulls when the dark ride debuts at Disneyland.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway trackless dark ride will debut in 2022 in the Mickey’s Toontown section of the Anaheim theme park.

On the ride, visitors will board a four-car train headed for a picnic with Mickey, Minnie and their dog Pluto. Naturally, like any Mickey Mouse cartoon, things quickly go awry. The ride travels through a carnival, a twister, a waterfall, a big city, a factory and a stampede of bulls, with the trackless train cars splitting apart and reconnecting along the way.

An identical version of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is scheduled to open in spring 2020 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park in Florida.

The announcement coincides with a year-long celebration of Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday at the Anaheim theme park.

Disney enthusiast site WDW News Today broke the news of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway coming to Disneyland back in October.

The Anaheim attraction building is expected to be built backstage behind the Gag Factory shop, which will be repurposed as an entrance to the ride, according to WDWNT.
