Messina, the 2025 Catalan international prize is underway: a bridge between art and culture (original) (raw)

Now in its fifth edition, the Catalan International Prize, conceived and organized by Mamy coast As part of the initiatives promoted by Spazio Macos, it is confirmed as an unmissable appointment in the contemporary artistic panorama. The event takes place in Messina, near the suggestive Church of the Catalans, which with its fusion of Byzantine, Romanesque, Arabic and Gothic styles represents a symbol of dialogue between different artistic expressions.

Growth and artistic diversity

The 2025 edition of the Award saw a significant increase in registrations, leading to a selection of artists from all over Italy and abroad. This growth has enriched the event with an extraordinary variety of artistic languages, ranging from painting to sculpture, from photography to digital art. The International Catalan Award is not only an opportunity for exhibition, but also an important platform for the comparison between artists of different origins and styles, favoring cultural exchange and encouraging the local economy.

The inauguration and the exhibition

The inauguration of the exhibition and the video display of the finalist works will be held on Saturday 15 February 2025 at 17.30 at Spazio Macos, in via Cardine, 16 – Messina. The event is curated by Mamy Costa in collaboration with Apat (Landscape, Environment and Territory Association), Amma (Messina Beekeepers Association) and Anvolt (National Association of Volunteer Fight against Tumors), with the support of local entrepreneurs.

Mamy Costa, creator and curator of the prize, says: “With great satisfaction, the fifth edition of the Catalan International Prize is inaugurated. The event was born with the aim of enhancing and promoting artists from Sicily, but also from every corner of Italy and abroad. I find it rewarding to see several stylistic diversity and an increasing number of artists in the rooms of the macOS space, located right next to a jewel like the Catalan church, which constitutes a heritage of beauty and history. Almost an ideal continuation between the magnificence of the past and the most current expressive representations. “

The finalists

This year the finalists of the prize are 61 artists, of which 30 physically expose and 31 in virtual form. Among the selected names we find artists of different origin and expressive languages, creating a heterogeneous rose of talents that contribute to the richness of the event.
