With a board game theme, the Monopoly Megaways slot is based on the most popular board game brand (Monopoly) in the world. Created by Big Time Gaming in cooperation with Hasbro, fans of the iconic game will instantly feel the excitement and magic of the board game.

Using the board game as inspiration for its bonus features, Monopoly Megaways has a land-based feel. With the same green city skyline used on the board game forming the backdrop, symbols also reflect the iconic game. The jazz soundtrack complements the action perfectly.

Symbols include colourful A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9 royals as the low-value symbols. The higher-value symbols are represented by the original Monopoly tokens or playing pieces found in the board game. They include a dog, car, battleship and top hat which are all in gold. Best paying is the top hat symbol which pays 50 times your total bet for 6 in combination.

Reactions

Like with many Megaways games, there is a Reactions feature. Otherwise known as Cascades or Avalanches, it is triggered when a winning combination lands on the reels.

Key to the action is Mr Monopoly who moves around the Monopoly board. Depending on where he lands, the below is what will be awarded:

Free Spins

Monopoly Megaways comes with a Free Spins feature. It is triggered from the Chance Square or when a fifth house is added to a property. 8 free spins are awarded but you’ll get an extra free spin for every extra house beyond the fifth and every owned train station.

When you next trigger the Free Spins feature, you will begin with a minimum of 11 free spins. Starting with a 1x multiplier, the multiplier increases by 1 for each utility owned.

Once in the feature, every house on each property land on will increase the multiplier by 1. Mr Monopoly, like in the base game, moves around the board when you land a winning combination. This can award multipliers, additional free spins, max Megaways and properties:

Expert Verdict

With various Monopoly-themed games available online, the Monopoly Megaways slot is the best in my opinion. It encapsulates the spirit of the iconic board game as you move around various squares collecting extras as you go. I love how Big Time Gaming have tied in classic elements of the game with bonus features.

With the focus on the Free Spins feature, triggering with various train stations and utilities owned will reward you with additional free spins and a higher starting win multiplier once you’re in. If you land on utilities, you can increase the multiplier by 2 each time.

With the win multiplier increasing in various ways, landing on Chance can award 5 additional free spins. There are unlimited free spins and an infinite win multiplier up for grabs.

With 14,700 times bet max wins, the RTP rate of 96.5% is also high. Big Time Gaming has intricately tied in bonus features with the iconic Monopoly board for an unrivalled and unique experience. As a result, it’s my favourite Monopoly-themed slot game by some distance.

As far as Megaways slots go, Monopoly Megaways holds up well. It doesn’t have the win potential of other titles but the range of extras is good. If you want to try other games with the legendary shape-shifting mechanic, the following slots would be my recommendations:
