The Rise of Ymir slot takes place on 5 reels, 4 rows and 14 fixed paylines. Landing 3 or more matching symbols from left to right on adjacent reels and beginning from the leftmost reel across any of the 14 paylines will constitute a winning combination. Only the biggest win per payline will be won.

With a Norse mythology theme, the Rise of Ymir slot takes you on an epic journey back in time to a time of giants and gods in Middle-Earth. Superbly designed, it centres around giant Ymir who was the first living being created when the icy realm of Nifheim and the fiery realm of Muspelheim collided.
Dramatic and intense, you will see Ymir behind the reels in an icy, snowy and windy setting. You’ll notice the rhythmic soundtrack which sets the tone beautifully. I must say, Rise of Ymir is a superbly designed slot game which is quite spiritual as the first giant created the earth from his flesh, hills from his bones, heaven from his icy skull and sea from his blood.
On the reels, you’ll come across Nordic-style A, K, Q, J and 10 royals. The higher-value symbols include horns, axes, hammers, Thor and Odin. Odin is the best-paying symbol awarding 10 times your total bet for 5 in combination. Below is a list of all symbol payouts:

Ymir’s Conquest
The Ymir’s Conquest feature is about the Ymir symbol which is a wild multiplier. Substituting for all paying symbols, 5 Ymir symbols pay 10 times your total bet. Multiplier values range from 1x to 100x.
When a Ymir symbol forms part of a winning combination, the multiplier value will be applied to the win. If multiple Ymir symbols are part of the same win, the multiplier values are added together and then applied.
Furthermore, a free respin is awarded. If new Ymir symbols land during the respin, more respins are awarded. This continues until no new Ymir symbols land on the reels.
Finally, if 4 Ymir symbols appear on the same reel, they merge to create a Giant Ymir symbol. All Ymir symbol multiplier values and added together and then applied to any winning combination it’s part of.
Megamultiplier
Look out for the Megamultiplier symbol landing when there are Ymir symbols on the reels. The Ymir symbol multiplier values are combined into a global Megamultiplier that applies to all wins whilst active.
Also awarding a free respin, new Ymir symbols landing will add their multiplier value to the global Megamultiplier. The Megamultiplier is then removed for the next spin.
Dawn of Gods
Landing 3 FS Scatters during a base game spin will trigger the Dawn of Gods feature with 10 free spins. It uses the Ymir’s Conquest and Megamultiplier features from the base game.
However, there is a higher chance of landing Ymir symbols with higher multiplier values. Landing 2 or 3 FS Scatters will reward you with 2 or 4 extra free spins, respectively.
Fury of Ymir
The Fury of Ymir feature is triggered by landing 4 FS Scatters during a base game spin. With 10 free spins awarded, you’ll benefit from the Ymir’s Conquest and Megamultiplier features.
The Megamultiplier remains in play between free spins until the end of the feature. Ymir symbol multiplier values that land when the Megamultiplier is active will be collected in the global Megamultiplier and applied to all winning combinations.
With more Ymir symbols with higher multiplier values landing, 2 or 3 FS Scatter symbols will reward you with 2 or 4 additional free spins, respectively.
Fall of Ymir
When you land 5 FS Scatter symbols simultaneously during a base game spin, the Fall of Ymir feature will be activated. You’ll start with 3 refilling lives.
Each spin will consume 1 life. If a symbol except a dead symbol lands, the lives/spins tally resets to 3. If you run out of lives, the feature ends. During the feature, certain symbols will appear. Their functions are as follows:
- Dead: Awards no payouts.
- Volcano Ymir: Remains in position and contains a multiplier between 1x and 100x.
- Megamultiplier: When it lands, all Volcanic Ymir symbol multipliers are added to a global multiplier whilst the Volcanic Ymir symbols retain their multiplier values.
- Asgardian Orb: When it lands, the collected value in the global multiplier is consumed and added to some or all Volcanic Ymir symbols.
- Green Asgardian Orb: Adds the global multiplier value of all Volcanic Ymir symbols on the reel where it landed.
- Golden Asgardian Orb: Adds the global multiplier value to all Volcanic Ymir symbols on all positions.
When the collected global multiplier is consumed, its value is reset to zero and removed. Landing new Megamultiplier symbols will build it back up again. Once the feature ends, the value of all Volcanic Ymir symbols on the reels will be totalled and awarded.

Expert Verdict
Intense and visually stunning, the Rise of Ymir slot certainly looks the part. The amount of detail Hacksaw Gaming has poured in is nothing short of amazing. From the fearsome Ymir behind to the reels to the rhythmic soundtrack and different settings in the various bonus features, it certainly looks the part.
