Olympedia – Trygve Brudevold (original) (raw)

Trygve Brudevold’s bobsledding career hit its peak during the 1950s, when he participated in three World Cups (1953-1955) and two editions of the Winter Olympics as a member of the Norwegian four-man crew. In 1952 he was 12th among 15 teams, with Arne Holst, James Hayden, and Kåre Christiansen, and in 1956, alongside Arne Røgden, Arnold Dyrdahl, and Odd Solli, he was 11th among 21 squads. He was athletically active in other pursuits as well, such as skiing, and ran marathons in his 60s and 70s.

Brudevold is much better known in Norway, however, as the founder of what became known as the Brudevold Group, a house building and land development company. Trained in masonry, he began his own company in 1946 and finished his first major project in 1949. He then expanded his business across Norway, and eventually took the company international, all of which made him very wealthy.
