What are Percona Operators?
Percona Operators automate deployments, scaling, and backup and restore operations of the databases on Kubernetes and come with years of Percona Expertise encoded in them. Percona Operators automate the creation of ready-to-use database clusters of open source, enterprise-ready flavors of MySQL, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL, created and supported by Percona.
Use Percona Operators to automate database operations on k8s or build a private DBaaS to speed up time-to-market for developers, run a Kubernetes shop, or deploy and manage databases on thousands of IoT devices.
Are Percona Operators free?
Percona’s mission is to keep open source open, vendors honest, and ensure users and community members are not taken advantage of. All Percona software, including Percona Operators, is 100% open source and free, not just economically, but as in “freedom”. Percona provides database users with freedom from vendor lock-in, freedom of deployment (whenever and wherever), and freedom of limitless scalability. No “open core,” no hidden fees or vendor lock-in. Percona Operators are distributed under an Apache license; the code is stored on GitHub.
