Residency Info

The 26-day residency is designed to support, explore, and produce tangible outcomes that contribute both to the artistic community and to public well-being by addressing urban noise pollution and enhancing sonic environments in cityscapes.

Mentorship

Mauricio Valdés San Emeterio is a composer, curator, and developer of media systems based in Slovenia. His career has developed in various artistic disciplines, with a focus on acoustic, electroacoustic, and experimental music. He designs Immersive Studio’s technologies and content for production. He is a curator and head of research and development at KUBER. Under the guidance of experts and through peer-to-peer interactions, participants acquire new skills in advanced audio technologies.

Expected results

Expected results include the development of new sound technologies and artistic works that demonstrate innovative approaches to noise reduction and soundscape enhance its reach, facilitating outdoor events and broader research opportunities.

Location

HEKA is a physical space and a concept that combines art and science approaches with citizen science to bridge citizens with science by using creative forms of reflection and expression. The guiding principle is the awareness that innovation, technology, art and business always have an effect on the individual and on society.

KUBER Experiential Immersive Audio Unit is a research, production and listening room, located at HEKA Art and Science Lab in Koper Slovenia, which for the last 3 years have entirely work around the field of spatial audio, exploring and resolving the ideas of dozens of projects that are on the quest to explore the possible use of space as a new controllable artistic dimension, regardless of the aesthetic of the content. It serves as a one-person-centered production space in HEKA premises, an immersive listening room, and recording studio.

Hosting allowance

€45 per participant, per day. It is a contribution to expenses related to the implementation of the residency project, such as accommodation for the participants, mentor fees, renting equipment, etc.

Arranged by the residents.

Per diem

€25 per person per day. It is a contribution to food, local transport, etc.

Travel fees

Travel distance under 5,000 km: €350 per person for round-trip.

Travel distance from 5,000 km: €700 per person for round-trip.
