Pine Tree Web Home Page (original) (raw)

With the fall of Communism in Eastern Europe and Russia, Scouting has returned to many lands where it had previously taken root. These pages chronicle the return of former members and the addition of new members to the World Organization of the Scout Movement. They also report the growth of Scouting in the other nations of Eastern Europe. Among these countries, the Scouting organizations of Estonia, Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic and Slovakia), Latvia, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Yugoslavia were founders of the World Organization.

Eighteen Eastern European Scout associations were Members of the World Organization at the end of 2002. These included: Albania, Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Yugoslavia (Serbia & Montenegro).

Scouting organizations around the world are assisting in the growth of Scouting in both Eastern Europe and Russia. They have been identified by country where information is available.

Each national page presents the country’s flag, a map showing its location in Central or Eastern Europe, and a statement on the status of Scouting in relation to the World Organization of the Scout Movement. Where available, graphics of badges or emblems, links to other sites, and the background of Scouting in the country are also presented. I hope to include personal stories of local Scouts, reports by Scouting visitors and additional information on the progress of Scouting as it becomes available.

This page is under construction and will be updated regularly. Any information you would like to contribute should be sent to the author at The Pine Tree Web.
