With the fall of Communism in the Soviet sphere of influence from 1989-1991, Scouting has returned to many lands where it had previously taken root, and is now developing in several nations which never knew Scouting before. Among these are the fabled lands of Central Asia and the Caucasus, including the former Soviet republics, as well as Mongolia and Afghanistan, which each had a period of Soviet domination. These pages chronicle the growth of Scouting in the nations of Central Asia and the Caucasus.
