During Sony’s PlayStation 5 reveal event — called “The Future of Gaming” — on Thursday, the company announced the next-generation of Gran Turismo — Gran Turismo 7. The game, developed by Japanese studio Polyphony Digital, is the follow-up to the studio’s 2013 entry, Gran Turismo 6.
The thing about car video games is they’re perfect showcases for next-gen consoles; showing off the glossy cars and vast landscapes is a surefire way to boast about how graphically powerful a console is.
The trailer for the game gave a special preview of the new campaign mode which will let players unlock new cars by winning races and then customize the cars in their own garage.
Gran Turismo Sport, also developed by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, was released on PlayStation 4 in 2017.
Sony’s PlayStation 5 is slated for a holidays 2020 release date, however there was no release date for Gran Turismo 7 in the trailer.
