Boutique Sales Outlet Hints At A £100 Difference Between PS5 Digital And PS5 - PlayStation Universe (original) (raw)
Earlier today you might have seen that boutique sales outlet TrulyExquisite will be accepting pre-orders for a gloriously over-the-top gold version of the PS5 and PS5 Digital console on September 10th.
Retailing at around £8000, many onlookers have also wondered if this meant that Sony would officially announce that PS5 pre-orders will kick off tomorrow.
While many were taken back by the very notion that the specialist outlet would be taking pre-orders on Sony’s next-generation console before any such announcement, some eagle-eyed readers noted that the advert clearly shows a £100 difference between the standard PS5 and PS5 digital editions.

The question then becomes – will that £100 difference also be reflected in the regular retail units that you won’t need to take out a second mortgage to afford? As it is, the difference in manufacturing cost which the inclusion (or removal) of the UHD optical drive is around $20. This means that if the difference between the two SKUs really is around £100, then Sony will have to swallow that lost and recoup those costs from elsewhere in the PlayStation ecosystem.
We’ve got some thoughts on that.
While we expect Sony to confirm pre-orders for the PS5 any day now – what do you think? Do you think there will be more or less than £100/$100 difference between the two PS5 models? Let us know in the comments below.
