Disgaea 6 Will “Definitely Release” At Some Point Says NIS President (original) (raw)
Disgaea 6 is coming! Sohei Niikawa, President of Nippon Ichi software, the company behind the Disgaea series, has revealed to Famitsu that the company will definitely release Disgaea 6. However, the studio is still ironing out logistics.
Disgaea 6 Release Date Unconfirmed
Details such as the timing of the release, what platforms the title is being considered for, and even the content of the game itself are still in the air. According to recent reports, Nippon Ichi has plans to focus mainly on PS4 and Nintendo Switch releases. However, the last main entry in the series, Disgaea 5 Complete, was exclusive to Switch.
The last PS4 game in the Disgaea series to hit the west was Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance, which was well-received on its 2015 release by critics. Meanwhile, Japanese fans have just enjoyed the release of Disgaea Refine, a HD remake of Disgaea Hour of Darkness. The remake will be launching this October in the west under the name of Disgaea 1 Complete.
Like previous games in the series, we’d expect Disgaea 6 to release in Japan first with a western launch to follow. Expect more details to land in the coming months.
Niikawa also mentioned the studio is looking at potentially expanding the Disgaea series outside of the strategy RPG genre.
How do you think an action RPG Disgaea would fare rather than the traditional tactical RPG experience? Let us know in the comments below.
