When Square Enix embarked on its journey to remake Final Fantasy VII, it was a project that could’ve forever tarnished the publishers relationship with fans, or brought them closer then ever before, while increasing the fanbase.

To the delight of fans today, it’s so far been the latter scenario, so it’s not surprising to see that Final Fantasy VII Remake is now officially the highest-selling Square Enix game on PlayStation Store in the publisher’s history.

What is surprising is that the news of Final Fantasy VII Remake being the biggest digital release in Square Enix’s history, was just tacked on at the bottom of a different post.

The post being that the Sony BRAVIA XR TV is the official tv for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s coming release.

“The first game of the FINAL FANTASY VII remake trilogy project, FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE, released in 2020, has been praised by both players and critics across the globe, earning more than 20 perfect scores from media, and was selected as a PlayStation® “Editor’s Choice” pick.

The game also became the highest-selling digital release on the PlayStation® platform in SQUARE ENIX’s history, exceeding more than 7 million shipments and digital sales worldwide since its release.”

With the success of part one in this remake project, it’ll be interesting to see if part two in Rebirth will be able to raise the bar even higher.
