The 28th D.I.C.E. Awards Nominees Have Been Revealed, With Astro Bot, Helldivers 2 And Indiana Jones Leading The Charge - PlayStation Universe (original) (raw)

The 28th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards are officially set to air on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 8pm PT / 11pm ET and Friday, February 14 at 4am BT.

Ahead of this year’s show, the nominees have been revealed, and continuing its awards season trend, Astro Bot is one of select few titles with the most nominations.

Tied with Astro Bot though with six nominations of their own is Helldivers 2 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Just behind the trio though is Balatro and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 with five nominations a piece, and thirdly its Animal Well, 1000xResist and Batman: Arkham Shadow coming in with four nominations each.

Unlike The Game Awards, which is mostly voted on by a panel made up of journalists and critics with a small influence from fan votes, the D.I.C.E. Awards nominations and winners are decided on by the peer panels of the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, each of whom are verified game developers working in the industry.

Each panel is assigned one award category, and the panel members play and evaluate games throughout the year to help determine which games make the short list of nominees. The panelists include some of the best developers working in the industry, and you can check out a full list of them here.

In other words, these are awards put on by game developers, with nominees and winners chosen by game developers. When a game makes this list of nominees, and wins, it is ‘game recognizing game’ in the purest way.
