Laura Bailey, the voice actress behind Abby in Naughty Dog‘s The Last of Us Part 2, has reacted to the news that Kaitlyn Dever will be portraying the character in season two of HBO’s The Last of Us series.

Dever’s casting was announced overnight following a long period of speculation that she would be taking on the role of Abby who plays a major role in The Last of Us Part 2 and was a strong point of controversy for some players. Bailey had nothing but positive vibes to send Dever, writing the following message on social media:

Huge congrats, Kaitlyn!” So excited to see Abby’s evolution in your performance! Let me know if you want a workout buddy.

Abby was modelled after Jocelyn Mettler in The Last of Us Part 2, and revealed last February that she was still receiving death threats from online trolls despite not being on Naughty Dog’s payroll since 2017. Meanwhile, Bailey revealed in October 2022 that she would be willing to reprise her role as Abby for a future game.

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is coming out on January 19 for PS5, while season two of The Last of Us HBO is currently in production and should be on air by early 2025.
