Learning Support
Learning Support
At QEGS we believe every pupil and student has the capacity to learn and make good progress, whatever their starting point. In Learning Support we aim to help pupils and students with learning needs to become independent, confident young adults, ready to move onto the next stage in life whether it is continuing in education, training or employment.
When pupils and students join QEGS we assess their needs using a nationally recognised system developed by Durham University. The Learning Support team will then identify the most appropriate support for each individual. Support can take the form of 1 to 1 support, small group work or in-class support. Most pupils and students need support for a short time, however, a few may need a more sustained period of regular support.
We have a small team of experienced and committed Teaching Assistants with a range of specialisms such as dyslexia, numeracy and communication needs. They work alongside the teaching staff, parents and outside agencies to ensure that every pupil and student is given the very best opportunities to progress.
If you would like to discuss your child’s particular needs or have any questions, please contact Mrs Arshad, Head of Learning Support at school.
