Best-known for her Emmy-nominated turn as Rachel Posner in "House of Cards" (Netflix, 2013-), Rachel Brosnahan also appeared in several other acclaimed dramas including "The Blacklist" (NBC, 2013-), "Manhattan" (WGN America, 2014-15) and "Crisis in Six Scenes" (Amazon, 2016). Born in Milwaukee, WI in 1990 but raised in Highland Park, Brosnahan attended the Tisch School of Arts in New York before making her screen debut in supernatural horror "The Unborn" (2009). Supporting roles in indie films "The Truth About Average Guys" (2009), "Coming Up Roses" (2011) and "Nor'easter" (2012) followed, as did guest spots on "Gossip Girl" (The CW, 2007-2012), "The Good Wife" (CBS, 2009-2016) and "In Treatment" (HBO, 2008-2010). Brosnahan then made the move to big-budget Hollywood fare when she played Genevieve Duchannes in young adult adaptation "Beautiful Creatures" (2013), and after one-off appearances in" Orange is the New Black" (Netflix, 2013-) and "Grey's Anatomy" (ABC, 2005-) she starred as Tamara, a sheltered teen who gives refuge to an on-the-run gang leader, in 50s-based crime drama "A New York Heartbeat" (2013). Brosnahan was then cast as Rachel Posner in "House of Cards" (Netflix, 2013), a role which was originally intended to last just five lines, but one which producers extended to 19 episodes due to her impressive performance. Brosnahan received an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of the call girl who becomes embroiled in Peter Russo's demise before meeting a grisly end herself. A year later Brosnahan landed her second recurring gig as Jolene Parker, a 'substitute teacher' hired to keep tabs on Tom Keen, in popular crime thriller "The Blacklist" (NBC, 2013-). She followed that up with a minor role in "Olive Ketteridge" (HBO, 2014), a five-episode stint on mental health drama "Black Box" (ABC, 2014) and a leading role in "I'm Obsessed with You" (2014), a comedy about four aspiring stand-ups whose graduation is gatecrashed by a major movie star. Brosnahan then played Jesse Eisenberg's ex in family drama "Louder Than Bombs" (2015), shared top billing in historical miniseries "The Dovekeepers" (CBS, 2015) and joined the cast of period piece "Manhattan" (WGN America, 2014-15) as Charles' wife Abby. She continued to rack up the credits in 2016, playing the widow of a former Guardsman in disaster epic "The Finest Hours" (2016), bartender Jamie in Sabyn Mayfield's directorial debut "Boomtown" (2016) and real life survivor Jessica Kensky in Boston Marathon bombing drama "Patriots Day" (2016). Brosnahan also took the lead in indie movie "Change in the Air" (2016), played Sandra in culture clash drama "The Fixer" (2016) and was cast by Woody Allen as proud conservative Ellie in the veteran director's return to television, "Crisis in Six Scenes" (Amazon, 2016). Later in 2016, it was announced that Brosnahan would star in a new project from writer/producer Amy Sherman-Palladino.
