Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times It tells a heart-warming story with lots of energy, and it has a nice, off-the-wall edge to its characters. Rated: 3.5/4 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Carol Cling Las Vegas Review-Journal Treacly and tiresome. Steve D Cute enough thanks to Keaton's normal strong work. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Earlish Michael Keaton starring role as hockey star Bobby "the Hornet" Barbato of the Chicago Eagles who ends up in an unlikely romance with the mother of the tween-aged boy who tried to mug him along with some older hoodlums. Frankly the youngster is disobedient and foul mouthed and doesn't present much of a sympathetic figure needed for this film to work. A sports star like the Hornet would never realistically stick around for this dysfunction. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member An unlikely connection of hockey player and single mom. Keaton and Alonso are okay but the obnoxious kid leaves this film short-handed and killing off too many penalties. Oldtime LA Kings fans may enjoy one-time King Vic Venasky back on the ice. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Scarface is playing in the theaters when this was filmed...wow!!! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member a michael keaton guilty pleasure of mine...i thought he did good in this, loved the cheesy 80's synth soundtrack. and i liked the funny chemistry between Michael and the kid. but yea, it was kinda bad. so what. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Sports, sex, and lots of saxophone music. Apparently that was all you needed to have a project greenlit in the 1980s.
