Wenlei Ma The Nightly (AU) It’s better than you had any right to expect it to be. Rated: 3/5 Jul 12, 2024 Full Review Nina Metz Chicago Tribune Murphy might be one of the most talented performers of any generation and it’s thrilling to see him back in the role that turned him into a movie star. Rated: 2.5/4 Jul 9, 2024 Full Review Rafer Guzman Newsday The heat is definitely off. Rated: 1.5/4 Jul 9, 2024 Full Review James Kendrick Q Network Film Desk Murphy slides back into the character like a well-worn glove, although the added dimensions he brings to Axel through age and experience give the film the distinction it needed to justify its existence. Rated: 3/4 Sep 3, 2024 Full Review Dan Buffa Ramble On With Buffa (Substack) The good thing is Eddie Murphy wears the role like he wears that trademark coat, with the ease of a veteran funnyman who knows how to steer an action comedy. John Ashton, Judge Reinhold, and Paul Reiser all return classily to their respective roles. Rated: B Aug 13, 2024 Full Review Nicholas Bell Fish Jelly Films (YouTube) A desolately plotted excavation of Eddie Murphy's first iconic role, the fourth installment of Beverly Hills Cop is functional nostalgia porn crafted solely to replay the greatest hits but not daring to say anything new. Andris D You could feel that Axel is an old man, that crushed a bit the expectation after the first three movies. That white guilt bull crap in the beginning of the movie was terrible, that almost had me to turn of the movie. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/24/24 Full Review Ryan F I couldn’t finish the movie as Taylour Paige’s acting was unbelievably terrible. I got to the scene where she walks into the meeting room with her dad in the red suit. Her acting in that scene was the breaking point. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/14/24 Full Review Mike B If you loved the first three, you'll get everything you need from this. It has it's forced moments and odd pacing, otherwise it's Beverly Hills Cop. I'm not sure why some people expected something different. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/12/24 Full Review Brian K The callbacks to the original were fun, but the story was a bit slow and played out. Axel wasn’t as outrageous which was disappointing and the story between him and his daughter was lacking. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/12/24 Full Review Joseph C Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. is a fantastic addition to the franchise! It perfectly captures the nostalgia of the original films while feeling fresh and exciting. Eddie Murphy is in top form, delivering hilarious lines and effortlessly slipping back into the role of Axel Foley. The supporting cast is also fantastic, with everyone clearly having a blast making this movie. If you're a fan of the Beverly Hills Cop series, or just looking for a fun and entertaining action-comedy, you won't be disappointed. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/07/24 Full Review Read all reviews
