Critics Consensus
By withholding clear heroes or easy villains in its tale of a destructive neighborly feud, Bring Them Down stands out as an exceptionally nuanced exercise in vengeance.
Kevin Maher Times (UK) It’s a serious, sombre film about something else — something, perhaps, very English that is fully smothered here. Rated: 2/5 Feb 12, 2025 Full Review Wendy Ide Observer (UK) An impressive first feature from Christopher Andrews... a bruising tale of vengeance accompanied by a savage, percussive score by Hannah Peel that sounds as though it was played on scrap metal and abandoned farm machinery. Rated: 4/5 Feb 10, 2025 Full Review Katie McCabe Sight & Sound The burden a parent places on a child, and the question of how much they can be blamed for the damage caused by its weight, runs like a compressed nerve through director Christopher Andrews’s brutal Irish pulp pastoral Bring Them Down. Feb 9, 2025 Full Review Manuel Betancourt FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It makes The Banshees of Inisherin look like a feel-good movie. Feb 11, 2025 Full Review Lisa Laman Culturess It’s a brutal world that makes for reasonably engaging thriller cinema in Bring Them Down. Feb 10, 2025 Full Review Miyako Pleines Spectrum Culture Rarely does a film come along that touches on the impossible standards instilled in men from a young age while still managing to be both tender and violent. Chris Andrews’ debut feature film succeeds in doing just that. Feb 10, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews
Gerald too much not explained Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/11/25 Full Review Timothy C Dark. Depressing. Scenes of animals being killed. Foul language. If that’s your thing, give it a try. I walked out. I don’t like to watch helpless animals being killed. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/25 Full Review donald a story left too many questions. why were the authorities never iinvolved? too many things assumed... Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/10/25 Full Review Vegas V Although the film had great performances and cinematography, both my friend and myself got sick watching this film! The abuse to animals was rampant and the abuse to the other families was also horrid! I am NOT a person who can calmly watch a film that shows intentional (although not actual) slaughter of animals and hatred between people who should be kind and non-abusive to their old neighbors. It made me sick and inside, I felt like crying! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/25 Full Review debbie m Grotesque and unnecessary turn in the story that left me feeling really bad after watching this movie. I can handle a dark plot but I dont know what kind of sicko writes this level of detail into a story that goes on far too long. The feud was already believable without needing to take the audience into the writers disgusting dark place. Its a shame because the acting was great but DO NOT see this movie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/25 Full Review Tom B Dark, gritty film shot in Ireland about two warring families. Non-sequential sequences reveal the actual chain of events that began almost innocently but lead to tragedy. Good casting & acting. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/25 Full Review Read all reviews

Synopsis Starring Oscar-nominee Barry Keoghan (Saltburn, The Banshees of Inisherin) and Christopher Abbott (Possessor, Sanctuary), BRING THEM DOWN is a tense and gripping thriller about two warring families set against the harsh landscape of rural west Ireland. When the ongoing rivalry between farmers Michael (Abbott) and Jack (Keoghan) suddenly escalates, it triggers a chain of events that take increasingly violent and devastating turns, leaving both families permanently altered. From first-time filmmaker Christopher Andrews and co-starring Colm Meaney, Paul Ready and Nora-Jane Noone, this is a fierce, muscular debut that signals a bold new cinematic voice.
