Kristin M. Jones Film Comment Magazine Heal the Living assembles an array of sensitive performances, but it takes place on a more metaphysical plane. Its characters often seem to have stepped outside the normal flow of time. Feb 14, 2018 Full Review Jake Wilson The Age (Australia) [Heal the Living] explores the ever-vulnerable body, the social institution of medicine and how individuals stand in relation to each. Rated: 3/5 Sep 27, 2017 Full Review Michael Upchurch Seattle Times Visually extraordinary when it needs to be, and with a laser-sharp focus on its characters' quirks, ethical dilemmas and emotional complications, this French film tells the story of a heart transplant. Rated: 4/4 Jun 15, 2017 Full Review Katie Hogan VultureHound The story is everything it's meant to be, a mixture of hope and sadness with no surprises to deter from a story worth telling. Feb 4, 2020 Full Review Cate Marquis We Are Movie Geeks The acting and character development are strong, adding greatly to the emotionally power and individuality of the personal stories involved. Apr 26, 2019 Full Review Alexa Dalby Dog and Wolf It's a wonderful film that balances life and death and it will tug at your heartstrings and stay with you for a very long time. Audience Member Very real feeling film following the lives of people touched by organ donation. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member In the opening 5 minutes there is one of the most beautiful scenes I have seen in a film. A mesmerising camera trick to signify a tired surfer, falling asleep at the wheel to lead to the crash and tragedy that the rest of the film is built around. Sadly the remaining 99mins of the movie are like a shit French version of Casualty. This is unbelievably dull, I perked up for the closing credit when they played Bowie's '5 Years' mind you. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member superb cast, superb casting, great story, and if one has never seen an open heart surgery in cinema and understand the fragility of life and the strength of the body we are given, you should see this film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Lo màs destacable el trabajo visual de su directora. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member The soundtrack is spot on. The acting good as well. Just didn’t find this movie moving at all. It almost played like an advertisement for organ donation. Meh. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/22/17 Full Review Audience Member Although top much focus is out on incidental characters, the film remains moving and tender.
