It’s really original and very different from any typical American musical, (thank god). There is a deeper meaning to the love-triangle where choosing between Isabella and Haley is same as choosing between what Rudy's heart says i.e. music and puppetry vs. Rudy's mother's expectations of a Brazilian partner and a stable career. Anwar's crazy vs. calm question again fits in the same meaning. Overall, the movie revolves around Rudy's struggle to manage his art form with his life.
