Critics Consensus
While this Feud might lack the abundance of incident that made its predecessor such a nasty delight, Capote vs. the Swans' luxe milieu and dynamite ensemble will keep spectators entertained.
Carol Midgley Times (UK) Though playing an attention-seeking drunk bent on self-destruction at full volume, [Hollander] manages to avoid caricature and delivers a performance full of nuance and, eventually, pathos. Rated: 4/5 May 14, 2024 Full Review Camilla Long Times (UK) It’s a love story, really. Once you realise that, the show’s other flaws melt away. Apr 22, 2024 Full Review Hugo Rifkind Times (UK) This is prestige, grown-up, admirable stuff, not least in the way it stars four or five of the most beautiful women in the world, and all of them over 50. Yet at eight episodes, I’m not totally sure it has the hooks to take me all the way. Apr 22, 2024 Full Review Cole Smithey ColeSmithey.com Mired in the cruelty of its real-life characters, the series starts off bumpy. If you can make it past the first three episodes, you'll likely make it to the end, but it won't be a pleasant experience. Rated: FOUR STARS Jul 7, 2024 Full Review Juan Pablo Russo EscribiendoCine Beyond exploring the charm and opulence of New York high society, the series immerses us in the deepest layers of this world, inviting us to reflect on the ephemeral nature of success and the complexity of human relationships... [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 7/10 May 17, 2024 Full Review Paula Vázquez Prieto La Nación (Argentina) The portrait of Capote, stemming from his creative crisis, violent lovers, and devotion to an elusive beauty... balances Murphy's kitsch, often prone to missteps, and a decadent tenderness makes the series great. Julie R Why oh why DIDN'T I stop watching after episode 4? It's so tedious! Their depiction of Capote (which I hope is an exaggeration) is just awful to watch. The in-depth dissection of Park Avenue society just gets boring and continues long after you get the points being made. Also, Chloe Sevigny and Molly Ringwald forgot how to act. Skip this one. The first season on Feud was excellent. They are miles apart. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/24/24 Full Review Tami H I waffle between which characters that I feel the most emotion about. Enjoyed and was saddened about the real lives the actors brought to life. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/20/24 Full Review Viviana G Performances are fantastic as well as production and music and so many things, but it´s too long, self-explanatory and repetitive. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/21/24 Full Review James I Ryan Murphy docu-dramas are something I devour, and Swans was no different. Couple that with Gus Van Sandt and I'm hyper-ventilating with anticipation. Mostly, the series didn't disappoint. Tom Hollander is perfection as Truman and Naomi Watts was magnificent in how she moved through the character and the grasping desperation of her dying socialite status. Diane Lane was great, as always. Demi Moore I loved but wasn't given nearly enough to do. Her confrontation scenes were mesmerizing. The rest of the casting and how they're written, not so much. I was excited about Calista Flockhart but truly disappointed that she played the depth of a dime in her character, nothing to see here. Chloe Sevigny... played Chloe Sevigny... again. Yawn. Russel Tovey was completely mis-cast and Joe Mantello walked through the whole thing like he was bored. I'm torn about Molly Ringwald's performance... maybe a little too nutty? Now Jessica Lange... it rips my heart out to say anything negative, but it seems to have become too easy for her in the roles she plays for Ryan. All she has to do is show up and do her lines. (I feel a little sick saying that). All in all it was a good show that bogged down when Van Sandt wasn't directing. For the next Feud... I'll be watching without a doubt. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/13/24 Full Review laurent b An underrated season, carried by some superb acting, perfect writing end the brillant filming of Gus Van Sant. A little gem of elegance. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/02/24 Full Review Danny E The whole idea and concept of this show made me believe I was going to enjoy it much more than I actually did. All the acting was Fantastical and superb, no complaints there. The writing was pretty good and so was the story telling... Minus the long-windedness, slow burn of the story and characters. The show is very specific and meticulous as it relates to the character development and clean story telling. It's just so boring at times and so painful to sit through some scenes as they drone on. It's worth the watch Just don't expect to binge it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/01/24 Full Review Read all reviews
