Critics Consensus

Though Industry's social critiques tend toward the superficial, sharp writing and an excellent ensemble make it easy to enjoy its soapy workplace drama.

Debi Enker The Age (Australia) The first season deftly taps into a range of topical issues: gender relations, workplace relations, sexuality, the exploitative nature of some employment. And it gives them nuance and complexity. Mar 25, 2021 Full Review Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald Self-interest and self-absorption remains the order of the day, and it's this lack of heart that leaves Industry feeling bleak and empty at its core. Rated: 3/5 Jan 27, 2021 Full Review Rebecca Harrison Sight & Sound Watching the show is a bit like being sober and listening to someone at a party who's four drinks in and has a rolled-up note in their hand: they have an awful lot to say, but I can't help wondering why, exactly, I'm meant to care. Dec 17, 2020 Full Review Olly Richards NME (New Musical Express) It makes the world of banking look deeply unappealing, but makes it very fun to watch others suffer through it. Rated: 4/5 Apr 28, 2021 Full Review Marlow Stern The Daily Beast While the show is set in the cutthroat world of London forex trading, involving a bunch of aspiring bankers, it provides a fascinating little peek inside the halls of power... Dec 30, 2020 Full Review Shannon Melero The Muse/Jezebel I wasn't expecting Industry to get me so quickly, but I also wasn't expecting how fast it lost me. Dec 4, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Jack S Slickly made and well performed, Industry is perhaps the only series I’ve ever viewed in which I thought the sex/nudity was excessive! So much of it is frankly both unpleasant and distracting. I wish the characters all spent more time in the office on the job where most of the really compelling dramatic action takes place! Apart from that, Industry is otherwise well written, entertaining and generally well performed. Although Herrold’s young character is so extravagantly devious, she practically qualifies as a comic book supervillain! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/13/24 Full Review Soumyaa j The producers just thought "Let's merge finance with sex" and while that might appeal to the target audience in the sector (and the youth drawn to the sector) from a realistic point of view, this has been produced to appeal to a certain demographic way too much to cater to a larger audience. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/12/24 Full Review David S Foppish nonsense, I'm surprised at the average rating. There is a young English man both cut and uncut in this.... If that is your jam then okay, but very few porn actors are uncut. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/29/24 Full Review Jason H Accurate representation of that world. Overemphasized in spots, but the power plays, sex, drugs, f’ing people over, the ego’s, business over family, money, hyper curation, subtle and not so subtle materialism, etc all accurate even the offices and trading floors are spot on. It can be incredibly hard to follow. Especially at key plot points. You should not like anyone in this show. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/26/24 Full Review Lina L I despise these people and wouldn't want to be friends with any of them. It is hypnotizing however, and I binged the 1st season because I needed to know how it ended. It is almost like watching movies or shows about a despicable psychopath who goes around murdering people without emotions. Here we are watching a bunch of sociopathic upstarts who have no emotions except the basest hedonistic impulses and are constantly on drugs, having sex with each other, backstabbing one another and the words "fiduciary responsibility" are a suggestion not an imperative. I hate Harper with a passion, she has no redeeming qualities and I want her to drop dead. The others have some humanity to them but overall they are all pretty uninteresting and empty people. I do want to see where this goes and that's why I'm watching season 3 now. 3.5 stars because they need to have better character development and strip some of the gratuitous sex scenes instead. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/16/24 Full Review Ally Moore J I thought the show was like a euphoria type show about the working class, but I was glad I kept watching till the end cause it was it's own thing. I found it quite a realistic depiction about the inside's and outsides of work life. It leaves an impression though. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/25/24 Full Review Read all reviews
