Critics Consensus
(Goofy concept + likable ensemble) ÷ sludgy pacing = an attractive but mediocre globetrotting series.
Dan Einav Financial Times The overly earnest script works against what is at its core a mindless globe-hopping conspiracy yarn. Rated: 2/5 Feb 4, 2025 Full Review Geordie Gray The Australian This show is patently absurd, but it’s well-acted, snappily paced fun. Jan 31, 2025 Full Review Anita Singh Daily Telegraph (UK) The first episode is sufficiently zippy to pull you in, but as a bingewatch it soon sags under the weight of a nonsensical plot and a feeling that everything you are seeing has been thrown in to satisfy the algorithm. Rated: 2/5 Jan 30, 2025 Full Review Abhishek Srivastava The Times of India While 'Prime Target' may stretch the boundaries of plausibility as it nears its conclusion, it remains an engaging and enjoyable series with a blend of suspense and action. Rated: 3.5/5 Jan 31, 2025 Full Review Adam Sweeting The Arts Desk Prime Target is an unusual beast, being a thriller with some intriguing (not to say mind-bending) intellectual preoccupations, but it’s a difficult feat to pull off... But I still want to know how it ends. Rated: 3/5 Jan 28, 2025 Full Review Barbara Ellen Observer (UK) I slogged on, beguiled by the strong cast, some of whom, as is typical of prestige streamer thrillers, seem to have about three scenes each. Then a sinister maths institute was slung into the mix and the glossy tedium got too much. Rated: 2/5 Jan 26, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews
Carol B Super fun show, I’m in till the end now. Who’d have thought a math thriller could work but it really does Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/25 Full Review Ethyl C Ruined by writers explaining what they themselves do not understand. Have the decency to at least know what you do not know, and to not try and bullsh*t us with nonsense. Nonsense which if just never included would have otherwise allowed for a wonderful story. I can see that so much work went into this. It's sad that the plot expects an audience without so much as a 3rd grade education in mathematics in order to be plausible. {spoiler alert} Numbers (even unknown numbers) are not and can never be a magical secret. It's just sad. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/11/25 Full Review Rory O Missed opportunity, didn’t need to be this awful. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/10/25 Full Review Myles H Holy pacing problems, batman. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/25 Full Review Joseph D The lead character's emotions are really contagious, he just wants the whole thing to be over already. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/08/25 Full Review Natasha G It’s just disappointing could have had more depth into the characters into what they are experiencing like his mental health .It is poor acting and predictable just looks cheaply made… what they are about to say and who is going to fall in love with who isn’t of surprise or have any suspense to it. Y! It is a great story line and is why I watched up to 3 episodes . It has potential. Don’t watch if you wanna watch something with meaning and relate to the main character who is more interested in using ppl. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/25 Full Review Read all reviews
