Critics Consensus

The Conners offers the comforts of its source show, but more focus on the family's ever-evolving dynamics adds a welcome layer of working-class empathy without losing any of the laughs.

Karl Quinn The Age (Australia) It's not half bad. In fact, it's at least half good. But it is also deeply, deeply conflicted. Dec 13, 2018 Full Review Melanie McFarland Salon.com It needs to definitely move past its grief and regard, with clarity, the many mistakes of its dysfunctional parent in order to avoid repeating them. It's getting there. But it hasn't arrived quite yet. Nov 29, 2018 Full Review Justin Burke The Australian It was noble to keep the show going for the unblemished cast and crew, but the resulting show doesn't feel right. Nov 26, 2018 Full Review Bill Brioux Brioux.tv There is so much life in this family, this blue-collar concept, and it is more relevant today than it was 30 years ago. Nov 8, 2022 Full Review Dominic Patten Deadline Hollywood Daily The Conners is still quite watchable, if for no reason than the strong talent of Goodman, Metcalf and Gilbert as the acerbic heir to her mother Darlene. Dec 18, 2018 Full Review Jef Rouner Houston Press It's like I said: fine. It exists perfectly well without all the baggage of waiting for Barr... Dec 10, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member I'm utterly shocked at all the poor audience reviews! For once, I agree with the critics. This show is such a great spin off from the old Roseanne. Of course it would be exponentially better had Roseanne agreed to come back but I know she has her reasons, and to be honest, Darlene and the other female family members, along with Dan, seem to carry the show pretty well in her absence. The acting is on par, the laughs are abundant, and the situations they find themselves in are interesting and keep me hitting the "next" button as long as I'm awake and not otherwise detained. I really love this show. And I'm so very glad I found it. Again. And the poor raters...really need to give it another go. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/25 Full Review marge a Absolutely ruining my time when I get home I the afternoon. The angriest sitcom ever and the whitest sitcom. Cant stands all the anger. Bring on a sitcom with some comedy in it. I'm on utube now. This show is horrible. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/04/24 Full Review Matt M Ridiculously bad acting, even from the stars. Seriously, how did some of the side characters get cast? The writing is also awful. It feels like a high school play. How did this happen? Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/11/24 Full Review Alexandria M This show is just cringe. I get Rosanne bad lmao but this show is just trying to live off her coattails. Sucks and rated accordingly Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/05/24 Full Review Demented N If this show had Bette Midler, Bette Davis Liza Minellie, Barb Stryson, Tina Turner, Hattie Mc Daniels , Dolly Parton, James Dean, Monique, Oliver Reed! And The best writers which it could do and the best directors which it also could do I still wouldn't watch it. Its like a reboot of, Mary Tyler, Lucy Show or Carol Brunett without the star. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/10/23 Full Review Chip H The Connors is quite possible the dumbest, most poorly written show on network TV. It literally makes me want to throw my television set out the window and take up reading full time. If this insultingly moronic show was being made 20 years ago the creators would be banned from Hollywood. Whatever the opposite of charisma is, this cast has it in spades. I am truly at a loss for words describing how awful the show, the cast, the writing and the acting is. Don't believe me? Compare the critic reviews to the audience reviews, then ask yourself how something like that could ever happen. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
