Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald Like a boozy, bad-taste session of Dungeons & Dragons, this gory animated series gives high fantasy a mildly amusing touch of the lowbrow. Feb 23, 2022 Full Review Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News The screenplay is stuffed with laugh-out-loud moments and the animation is often quite stunning. Rated: 3.5/4 Feb 9, 2022 Full Review Valerie Anne Autostraddle To me it's the perfect combination of D&D and animated high fantasy and I can't wait to see what other little aspects of the game flavor and guide the story. Jan 31, 2022 Full Review Alana Joli Abbott Den of Geek More than fan service, Critical Role's The Legend of Vox Machina succeeds at storytelling. Nov 18, 2022 Full Review Nathaniel Muir AIPT The first three episodes show the action, fun, and creativity that has made Critical Role so popular. It will be interesting to see where the show goes from here. Nov 18, 2022 Full Review Adam Lock Ready Steady Cut The animation is clean and contemporary. It’s gory and unforgivingly rude. There are barrels full of comedy and some nifty action pieces too. Nov 18, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Mike P Elaborate new Dungeons and Dragons spinoff show from the folks over at Amazon; based on characters developed in their "Critical Role" web series; (which was, in turn, based on a REAL DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS game this clique of Hollywood actors was playing)...And focusing on the "Vox Machina" mercenary group in the world-universe of Exandria; and their attempts to protect the Tal'Dorei continent there from attack. And its got the epic sword and sorcery feel of Lord of the Rings; and the ribald blue humor of Guardians of the Galaxy. So...raunchy and imaginative...in other words perfect for 15 year olds everywhere. And I also found it highly entertaining, fyi. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/07/25 Full Review Elias J I honestly believe that those folks giving this show poor reviews have broken senses of humor, or don't like clever story arcs and fantastic characters. My only criticism is that I have to wait for more seasons. Just absolute pure fun! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/12/24 Full Review Maxi B Kind of silly, but well animated and entertaining. A guilty pleasure. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/24/24 Full Review Monk-E M Overdone, hyperactive, and nowhere near as clever as it seems to think. It was like watching a show with every actor Jim Carey at his most exaggerated. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/23/24 Full Review Antonio C Fantastic. Its a wonderful animation, who loves rpg will love Vox Machina. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/11/24 Full Review Zubin A This show is the best. That's where I want to start. The series bursts onto the scene with a wild and raucous energy, blending Dungeons & Dragons lore with vibrant animation and irreverent humor. The fact that this show started with a tremendous crowdfunding effort isn't lost on me. You can feel how much fan service is happening in conjunction with service to general audiences. The first season deftly balances humor, heart, and high stakes, introducing audiences to a lovable yet flawed group of misfit heroes. While the show revels in its chaotic action sequences and crude humor, it manages to layer moments of genuine emotional depth, particularly through character backstories. At times, the plot may feel rushed, but the sheer enthusiasm of the cast and the witty, sharp dialogue make it an exhilarating fantasy adventure. Fans of tabletop gaming and newcomers alike will find plenty to enjoy in this wild ride. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/05/24 Full Review Read all reviews
