Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News The supporting cast of characters get even more developed in this brisk season that you’ll want to finish in one weekend. Rated: 2.5/4 Feb 6, 2025 Full Review Ed Power Daily Telegraph (UK) As time-killing hokum, The Recruit hits the target like 007 taking aim down a pre-credits gun barrel. Rated: 4/5 Jan 30, 2025 Full Review Samarth Goyal Hindustan Times The Recruit wisely retains its fast-paced storytelling, never getting bogged down despite Owen’s increasingly complex personal struggles. Feb 6, 2025 Full Review Alex Maidy JoBlo's Movie Network Netflix should pair this series and The Night Agent for as long as they can with The Recruit, the lighter series of the two, investing in as much levity as possible. Rated: 6/10 Feb 6, 2025 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba If you’re mildly amused and occasionally entertained, you’re likely watching The Recruit. The second season is also marginally better than the first, and it’s only six episodes long. Feb 6, 2025 Full Review Joel Keller Decider Because The Recruit is at its heart a silly action series, its success really leans on Centineo’s charm and the comedic vibe of the show’s writing, and that continues in the second season. jerry s Writers got lazy in season two. The show is campy and you need to suspend belief to go along with it. But I draw a line when clever flys out the window and stupid flys in. The last episode was just plan dumb and not well thought out. The cast remains superlative, but they were let down by the writers. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/12/25 Full Review Rhonda D Highly exhilarating with non-stop and intense action! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/25 Full Review Patrick L Great twists and turns can hardly fault the story line. One or two predictable moments otherwise 6 out of 5!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/25 Full Review James H I thought season 2 was better than 1. Things got bogged down mid season and I almost bailed, but by the end it got moving really well. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/11/25 Full Review Stan H Warning--contains spoilers. I have no idea how this show received a 92% rating with the professional critics. Let's start with the ending. After an improbable escape from the bad guys, our hero and his group are about to be caught by a Russian boat when an American submarine suddenly emerges out of the water to save them, with absolutely no explanation how it got there. That's just one of many elements in the final, rushed episode that either go nowhere or come out of nowhere. It's as if the writers thought they had eight episodes like they did in year one, but then they were suddenly told right before the sixth episode that it wold be the last, with no prospect of a third season. Of course, I hope there is a third season to wrap up the major dangling threads from this season. On top of that, the dialogue is often clunky and the action is often unbelievable--e.g., our hero sneaking onto a Russian base, alone, in broad daylight, and crossing open areas without being spotted within yards of a bunch of Russian military personnel wandering around Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/25 Full Review Matheus H Very good consistency of humor and action as always! The series became tougher and more mature in the second season! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/10/25 Full Review Read all reviews
