Critics Consensus
Real-world and supernatural horrors collide in Infamy, an exceptionally well-crafted ghost story that creeps under the skin and stays there.
Bethan Ackerley Empire Magazine The Terror: Infamy is a much-needed confrontation between America’s past and present, but it doesn’t deliver on the scares its title promises. Jul 19, 2023 Full Review Michael Hogan Daily Telegraph (UK) If it neither looks, swims nor quacks like a duck, then is it even a duck at all? In this case, sadly, it’s closer to a turkey. Rated: 2/5 May 7, 2022 Full Review Aja Romano Vox Though creepy and often effective, its supernatural horror plot is largely built around clichés involving women and motherhood, which are harder to sustain as compelling drama over a 10-episode season. Dec 3, 2019 Full Review John Townsend Starburst With similarities to the recurring imagery inherent in the J-horror films from the 1990s, there are moments of genuine atmosphere and titular terror, and yet for some reason, the series doesn’t quite hold together. Rated: 3/5 Jul 14, 2022 Full Review Li Lai Mediaversity Reviews The Terror: Infamy provides crucial representation, but not across the board. Rated: C+ Mar 9, 2020 Full Review Dan Schindel Hyperallergic [A] thread emerges about how assimilation can become its own active force in the lives of immigrants and their descendants... The Terror makes this the heart of the hostility surrounding its characters, an atmosphere more unnerving than any ghost. Feb 27, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews
CT 8 Season 2, though solid in terms of storyline, acting etc…just didn’t have the atmosphere of Season 1. Though admittedly, equaling or exceeding Season 1 was always going to be a monumental task. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/19/24 Full Review babarizam D Season 1 is amazing. Season 2 however, tries to combine so many elements and that it losses the sense why it is called season 2. I think show runner had True Detective style in mind but sadly didn't work out Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/01/24 Full Review Virus S This show is a fantastic production. It delivers a critical look at US treatment of Japanese immigrants, and first-generation citizens, during the anxieties of WWII. The Japanese concentration camp residents are haunted both literally and figuratively by relics of their heritage. The Terror uses clever metaphor to deliver its bleak depiction of what a society will do when it panics. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/23/23 Full Review Peter R Season 1 was fantastic! Season 2 was an incredible disappointment. While the underlying story regarding sorry events during WWII needs to be told, the opportunity to shed meaningful light on Japanese internment was wasted through a nonsensical story and fairly dreadful acting. It wasn't worthy at all. How such a good first season could be followed by this is really a mystery. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/07/23 Full Review Jose R The Terror S2 disappointed me because it is not as good as the first season, even though it has some interesting scenes. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/22/22 Full Review Jake Z Unlike the first season, this second season took two episodes to really sink it's claws in me, but when it did, I was hooked. The negative reviewers for this season need some ADHD medication. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/07/22 Full Review Read all reviews
