Critics Consensus
Equal parts more convoluted and sophisticated than ever before, Upload's techno satire continues to take on more human dimension.
Adrián Álvarez Espinof Its ability to read our present and predict our immediate future reaches our reality (i.e., in morality problems related to AI and the use of a person's appearance), perhaps explaining why Amazon continues to keep it alive... [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 4/5 Mar 4, 2024 Full Review Valerie Anne Autostraddle It’s all the fun technology stress of an episode of Black Mirror, but with a lot more humor. Nov 10, 2023 Full Review Matthew Gilbert Boston Globe I didn’t hate season 3, but I was let down by its unnecessary twistiness, some creeping aimlessness, and the sometimes-confused links between the uploads and the world, the uploads and the other uploads, and the downloads and the bodies. Oct 24, 2023 Full Review William Schwartz Book & Film Globe The common people in the show are both so stupid they’ll believe basically anything, yet also so important to democracy that Horizen is willing to murder them to keep them from voting. May 3, 2024 Full Review Stacey Yvonne Wealth of Geeks "Upload" earns its popularity through thoughtful scripts and excellent comedic performances. Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 10, 2023 Full Review Kristen Maldonado Pop Culture Planet This new season starts off slow and has a bit of trouble finding its footing [...] but it eventually hits its stride. Robbie Amell remains as likable as ever, even with multiple versions of him running around. Nov 9, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews
Luis Otavio F In relation to the previous ones, it is the weakest, but even so it manages to sustain itself and present a solid and rough plot. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/03/25 Full Review David S The latest season is...pretty terrible. What worked in the first and second season was the interaction between the characters, and dealing with the concepts of relationships and interactions between the deceased and the living. Season 3 just turns to straight "corporations are evil" Hollywood camp. We get it Hollywood, all corporations are evil, they all meet together secretly in big board rooms and decide everything about this country. The final cliffhanger of the season seemed almost entirely manufactured: instead of coming to a logical conclusion, they threw in non-nonsensical twists in order to drag the show out for another season. No thanks. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/08/24 Full Review A A Great show continues on track, expanding it's universe nicely with some more views of the "real world". Starts to add a little too much preachiness into the narrative, but it's all pretty soft and handed, so it's not too off putting Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/01/24 Full Review Regina P Okay, so that's enough of this. I disembark right here. I can't take anymore. It ended on another cliffhanger, and I don't even care to find out which guy was eliminated. Nope. Moving on. The body horror, the long spans of time where we don't deal with the main plot of collusion and corporate corruption... I'm getting off at this stop. Done. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/24 Full Review SundayNightStreaming o Upload Season 3 - 6.1 - Of the past two seasons I found this one the weakest. Sort of had the problem that Westworld ran into, the best part of this show is when they are in lakeview, when they explore out into the real world it isn't the same allure. Going in this season was going to be wacky, knowing Nathan is out in the real world. Nathan still has his usual charisma and the storyline is fun and exciting. The best part of this season in general was that there were 2 Nathan's, double the fun. Ingrid had some big character development which was good to see, after all her struggles in past seasons, good to see her finding herself. This season introduced a new villain in a sense, and left us with the biggest cliffhanger, which Nathan is left. For Norah's sake we hope its hers, and then we get to see the rage of Ingrid. Overall the concept of this show is the bread and butter, with this not seeing so far fetched of what will happen soon in this world. This is a light quick and fun series, I look forward to season 4 and more adventures with Nathan Brown. Official sundaynightstreaming rating of 6.1 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/24 Full Review Aidan R I enjoyed it. Nathan as a living as a download AND an upload was a good idea and played out well in the story. Nora's development was good as well. Other characters were great too. Hope this show gets renewed for a 4th season, especially after that cliffhanger. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews
