Critics Consensus

Reveling in the glory of straightforward adventure storytelling, Valhalla is a bloody good dramatization of Leif Eriksson's conquests.

James Jackson Times (UK) A lavishly earthy world of gore, swords and men going “yargh”... Jul 8, 2022 Full Review Deborah Ross Daily Mail (UK) One beard only has to look at another beard and that’s it, throat slit. This has, in short, not been approached with any wit or humour or cleverness. Rated: 2/5 Feb 28, 2022 Full Review Hugo Rifkind Times (UK) For a bit of good, honest, dumb-as-hell, hairy-bros-with-axes action, I can wholeheartedly recommend Vikings: Valhalla. Feb 28, 2022 Full Review Ricardo De Querol El Pais (Spain) Unlike the original Vikings, there is more action and battle here than intimacy and mysticism. [Full review in Spanish] Jun 1, 2022 Full Review Graeme Tuckett Stuff.co.nz Valhalla is a blood-soaked bunch of silly fun, chock-full of risible dialogue, all of the daftest tropes of historical adventures... Sam A Worth a watch. There are shocking moments that I didn't see coming. I prefer the original Vikings series, but I'll definitely give the second season a go Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/25 Full Review Joshua R Unfortunately, this sequel to the original Viking series lacks cleverness in story telling (one hackneyed trope after another); is terribly written with unrealistic (illogical, even at times) dialogue; showcases frequently awkward, awful fighting choreography; and, in every single way, is a far cry from the fantastically written, acted, directed original series. The first season was a struggle to get through. Spoiler Alert: the beginning of Season 2 is so far no better, with one storyline written like the crew creation scene in a “heist movie.” I regret starting something I don’t wish to (but can’t help but) finish. Save yourself (and maybe family and friends) the trouble. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/07/25 Full Review Bryan B Absolute rip off and failed attempt to piggyback off of History Channels Vikings! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/03/24 Full Review Mahmoud A Going three episodes of it was excruciatingly painful. Netflix is never to be trusted with anyone's culture or history. Furthermore, the story telling part was boring and stupid. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/14/24 Full Review Gustavo Z It wasn’t bad, although not at the same level as the original. Ot is what one can expect, happy to see them explore different lands. The moser audience take they took for this one , not fond I wish they just stick to reality for this historic tales, really there is no need for it. It’s good that the show is entertaining and keeps. You out of it most of the time. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/13/24 Full Review Audience Member How is this 90% voted by critics? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/12/24 Full Review Read all reviews
