Plunking two famous funnymen into the unpredictable journey of a sports documentary, Welcome to Wrexham is a calculated gamble that pays off.
Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald The harsh reality is that real success will require new players, so if things go according to plan most of the ones we’re meeting now will get the flick. Viewers will share their hopes and their wariness. Rated: 3/5 Sep 8, 2022 Full Review Hugo Rifkind Times (UK) A quite weird documentary series... Aug 29, 2022 Full Review Dan Einav Financial Times There’s perhaps too little varied material here to justify an 18-episode run, but the series offers a timely and refreshing look at football beyond the nauseatingly moneyed upper echelons. Rated: 3/5 Aug 26, 2022 Full Review Diego Batlle Otroscines.com ... Addictive, fun, charming, endearing, and at times even very emotionally engaging. A Geek Community But the duo getting involved and learning the sport, as many audience members were doing the same, is very beneficial for newcomers wanting to understand football. Bill D From the touching theme music and lyric "don't forget to sing when you win!" - it's a fascinating journey watching a down-in-the-mouth Welsh coal town be reinvigorated by a couple of wacky US actor/entrepreneurs. Touching characters and fascinating tale doesn't require soccer knowledge to appreciate it. It's a human interest story, so addictive that I can't wait for the next episodes! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/12/24 Full Review Christian C First watched as a fan of Ryan and Rob and was curious about the Wrexham story but absolutely fell in love with the series and now addicted. Everything about the series is brilliantly organised, its not just Hollywood glamour, the show also has a big heart. You can't help but get drawn into the stories of the Wrexham fans and local characters and their love of the club and their town. The chemistry between Ryan and Rob adds to the mix and what I love the most is how they've embraced Wrexham as a community. Definitely a must watch whether you're a football fan or not. By the end of a few episodes you'll be backing Wrexham all the way on their journey. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/22/24 Full Review Stephen S This is the way to do it. Honest, warts and all. Enjoyable start to finish. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/17/24 Full Review Jarred D Ryan and Rob have made me fall in love with the town of Wrexham, the people, and the team. It has never been on my list of places to see, but when I eventually get to having a Euro trip, I will be visiting Wrexham. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/14/24 Full Review Cory C This really draws you into the lives of the people on the show. You won't regret watching. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/09/24 Full Review Roo F Welcome to Wrexham is structured really well, and it brings a lot of light to a really interesting place and team that would have most likely gone under the radar to the many attracted to it now.
