You pairs thrilling drama with trashy fun to create an addictive social media horror story that works its way under the skin -- and stays there
John Doyle Globe and Mail You is very, very good. It's been called "bonkers" but you can take that in a good way. Jan 31, 2019 Full Review James Donaghy Guardian It is smart enough to let us know that to sympathise with Joe is to be complicit in his crimes. Every time you feel you're being drawn in, the show pulls the rug from under you and reminds you that he is not the romantic hero you are looking for. Jan 17, 2019 Full Review Anna Leszkiewicz New Statesman Its sparklingly cruel sense of humour is what makes it compulsively watchable -- through Joe's sardonic narration, the show displays a rare eagerness to ridicule its own characters. Jan 8, 2019 Full Review Sharai Bohannon Anatomy of a Scream Podcast Network It's a surprisingly addictive little treat. This season is more fun than it has a right to be, and that's the f-word I'm missing from similar shows. Joe Goldberg is the kind of complex villain I love to see. Nov 13, 2023 Full Review Graeme Tuckett Stuff.co.nz You is a neat inversion of the usual psychopath and serial killer thriller... Feb 16, 2023 Full Review Joe Lipsett Anatomy of a Scream Podcast Network Badgley does exemplary work both on screen and in voice over as the dangerous milquetoast man of your dreams. The real revelation is how duplicitous everyone else is. Bonus points to Shay Mitchell as complicated queer (semi-villain) Peach Feb 11, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews
Priceadon P One dimensional characters and nonsensical messy murders that the lead character never seems to get caught by. This is not intelligent TV. This is trash and I for the life of me want to get back the time I spent on watching it. This show is for people that like a D grade plot, D grade writing that you get in poorly written romance novels that go straight to freebies on audible. Main protagonist is a serial killer that is crazy ( as you learn with the internal monologue but somehow is able to say the exact right thing to make people gush). This is not good television and for the life of me I do not understand how it could get this many good reviews or seasons. Tell me how a guy can attack someone in the middle of Central Park and somehow have no witnesses? How can he leave a jar of pee at the scene and be told there is a DNA test being run at the scene. Dude was bleeding after a car accident and you are trying to tell the audience that after passing out from concussion and trying to sew up his head he somehow could sneak around the house, unheard and unseen and not leave one trace of evidence to tie him to the crime? And then never wrap any of this up. Just a loose plot end. Honestly it is written by idiots for other idiots and anyone that seems to think this is good tv really shows you the state of bloody tv. This is no sopranos. No dexter. No Mr Robot. This is day time television tele nova with a budget and anyone that says any different is lying to themselves as well as you. YOU? is trash. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/25 Full Review Emerald E You is such a great mystery/thriller series. It is super engaging all through and equally intriguing from the very beginning. The actors delivered more than anyone else; I personally love Penn Badgley's performance. It's my second watch, and it's still got the same effect on me. While I prepare for Season 5, I'm not ready to say goodbye to Joe yet...and I really hope the Finale ends Joe's story in a satisfactory manner (Whatever that will be.) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/25 Full Review Al-B C Glamourising the abuse of women is an irresponsible and dangerous thing to do! This show is in poor taste. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/19/24 Full Review Troy Minh C There isn’t too much say about this, it’s an absolute must watch and one can see the brilliance themselves. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/14/24 Full Review DidYouKnow I Pulpy but enjoyable first season, carried by Penn Badgley. Beck is not a worthwhile opposing character despite Lail's best efforts. This made me curious enough to start the next season. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/24/24 Full Review Gaetano P Love love love love. What is it good for? Absolutely nothing! Love this series so much Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/24/24 Full Review Read all reviews
