Montana High School Seniors Awarded $135,000 In Scholarships (original) (raw)

Scholarship recognizes 90 Montana high school seniors for community volunteerism.

HELENA – In partnership with Reach Higher Montana and Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement (MCNCE), Governor’s Office of Community Service (ServeMontana) is pleased to announce this year’s Youth ServeMontana Scholarship recipients.

“It is a privilege to offer the Youth ServeMontana Scholarship to deserving students who have positively impacted communities across Montana through volunteering,” said Kelly Cresswell, Reach Higher Montana executive director. “They are much more than financial assistance, they were created to encourage young adults to play an active role in their communities, now and in the future.”

The selected 90 high school seniors will each receive a $1,500 scholarship. The students completed 100 hours or more of volunteer service in the past year and plan to attend a Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement institution this fall.

“The Youth ServeMontana Scholarship honor high school seniors for their meaningful volunteerism along with their decision to attend a Montana college or university,” Josh Vanek, Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement director, said.

The Youth ServeMontana Scholarship was created to promote volunteerism, encourage young leaders to further their education while providing financial assistance to those intending to enroll at an in-state institution. In partnership with Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement, a network of Montana colleges and universities that prioritize community involvement, Reach Higher Montana, a nonprofit organization focused on assisting students in achieving and financing higher education; and the Governor’s Office of Community Service, the state agency responsible for encouraging national service and community volunteerism across Montana, this scholarship is made possible. Funds are administered through the Governor’s Office of Community Service.

Congratulations to this year’s Youth Serve Montana Scholarship recipients for their dedication to Montana’s communities!
