The Merrimetsi 4x4 trail is one of the Free State�s many wonders and is one of Wheels24 top 10 4x4 trail choices. It has become a firm favourite for the many visitors to the area. The trail offers great driving experiences with magnificent views of the Free State landscapes as it makes its way along sandstone rock faces. The farm is situated within a conservancy which boasts interesting fauna and flora. It is a guided 4x4 trail which makes it a wonderful learning experience as well as an enjoyable trail.
The Visierskerf Private Game Reserve, nestled in the shadow of Visierskerf mountain in the Eastern Free State, offers three 4x4 eco trails which traverse the farms Moolmanshoek, Waterkloof and Langesnek. This reserve offers the brilliance of the Sandstone culture and boasts a variety of eco zones where wetland areas, grassland, solid rock plates and indigenous bush are found.
Panoramic views span the surrounding landscape and through to the Lesotho Malutis. Game viewing will be enjoyed in the game camps where white blesbuck, springbuck, black wildebeest and zebra roam. The three routes namely the Langesnek (2-3 hours / 66km route), the Kloof (4-5 hours / 66km route) and the Kiepersol garden (2-3 hours / 8km route) can comfortably be done over a weekend, each showing a different aspect of the reserve.
Cliffdale Quads, based in Memel and located in the foothills of the Free State Drakensberg, boasts lovely weather and breathtaking views. They offer 4x4 trails exploring dirt roads, riverbeds, farms and magical mountain passes. They cater for family and technical rides. Destiny Explorations offer you the chance to improve your 4x4 skills. They are an environmentally friendly based organisation and pay strict attention to the preservation of the trails and land that they use.
Only existing tracks are used and the trails are guided by professional, qualified guides who will improve your knowledge of the magnificent area. One of the 4x4 trails they offer is the Ventersberg 4x4 Challenge which is for the experienced 4x4 enthusiast and was rated as one of South Africa�s top 10 trails. It is a full day trail and 6-7 hours long.
