Cedarville is a little town nestled on the foothills of the south most Drakensberg mountains. It is the gateway to three magnificent mountain passes into Lesotho and all within an hours drive where either the Katse Dam, the shimmering Maletsunyane waterfall or Maseru can be explored.

The Sani Pass is a fairly challenging route with access from Himeville in the picturesque Southern Drakensberg area. The pass twists and climbs upwards, beneath towering cliffs and buttresses, reaching the top of the Drakensberg escarpment at 2,873m. Experience the most magnificent and breathe-taking scenery on this South African 4x4 trail.

The Thule Beacon Trail is from the lovely St Bernards Peak in East Griqualand and is renowned as a tough 4x4 trail that takes you high into the magnificent southern Drakensberg mountains. This trail is far tougher and will have the adrenaline pumping harder than on the Sani Pass.

Tour operators offer 4x4 trails for novice and experienced drivers. The trails will take you along the scenic river's edge, through amazing river crossings, along magnificent cliff faces, into muddy areas, over log bridges, narrow bush paths and up rocky hill climbs.
