The Mac Mac summit route near Sabie is an easy-going range of trails traversing through magical mountains, glistening waterfalls and subtropical forests and winds its way down to the bottom of the breathtaking Blyde River Canyon. It is an easy trail and poses few risks to your vehicle. You can choose between a day trip or routes of up to five days.

Riverwild 4x4 in Nelspruit is one of the leading off-road experiences in South Africa. The trail is driven by participants in their own vehicles under guidance of their experienced marshals. The trail has different sections with a variety of challenging natural obstacles, each with its own character and each offering varying degrees of difficulty. These obstacles include river crossings, mud sections, steep ascents and descents and plenty of rocky areas. For those who do not want to participate in the extreme sections, it is possible to take a detour.

Cross country drives and trips in the scenic surrounding forests are available for off-road vehicles without low range. For those that require a little training first, 4x4 driver training is presented on request and includes level 1, level 2 and level 3 courses covering the topics of environment, vehicle information, offroad techniques, recovery and practical training, driving through a number of obstacles.

The trails boast scenery of lush indigenous lowveld forests, magnificent wildlife and several fascinating Indo-African ruins. The Sudwala Caves and the Wonderkloof Hydro are also nearby. Experience breathtaking views along the Mpumalanga escarpment.

The Kruger National Park launched four new Kruger Park 4x4 Adventure Trails in 2003. The 4 trails are the Northern Plains Adventure Trail set north of Shingwedzi, the Nonokani Adventure Trail set between Phalaborwa and Letaba, the Mananga Adventure Trail set east of Satara and lastly the Madlabantu Adventure Trail near Pretoriuskop.

All routes for the Kruger Park 4x4 Adventure Trails have been carefully selected from a range of existing roads that comply with the Kruger National Park Recreation Opportunity Zoning Plan.

All the Kruger Park 4x4 Adventure Trails take about 4 to 5 hours to complete. The 4x4 routes have been designed to keep guests as close as possible to the different wilderness areas and to reveal the uniqueness of the panorama and ecosystem. Here you get to experience the magnificent terrain and wildlife of the park whilst testing your 4x4 skills.
